Jamtara is a newly
formed district of Jharkhand State. It came into existence on
26th April 2001 . It was created by
carving out four blocks from DUMKA
District.
Location:
JAMTARA
district lies between
860-30’ to 870-15’ east longitude and
230-10’ to 240-5’ northern latitude. It is surrounded by
Deoghar and Dumka
district in the north, Dhanbad district in the south-West, Burdwan
district of
West Bengal
in the east and Giridih district in the North-West.
It is situated at the height of 175 Mts from the
sea level. It The District has an area of
178643 Hcs. and consists of only
one sub division namely Jamtara. Under Jamtara sub division, there are 06 blocks
namely Jamtara, Narayanpur, Nala, Kundhit, Fatehpur and Karmatar (Vidyasagar)
